Share some stats. We love metrics, quantitative data, and tangible examples – especially if it's compared to others in your industry, or of a similar sized business.
Assume we don't know your business. The more detail you can provide, the better. Judging is done based off solely what's in your kit (not based on any knowledge we may already have about you or your business). So be sure to share your full story!
What are your accomplishments this year? As these awards focus on your achievements within the past year, we want to know what they are! Sharing some details about your growth over the course of several years can be helpful, but we want to know what makes THIS year different.
Task your marketing team with the submission kit. Often times, they can tell your story really effectively, and can provide the level of detail we're looking for in your kit. If you don't have a marketing team at your disposal, write your kit as if you're presenting it to a potential sponsor, investor, or client.
Focus on Local. Larger companies who have multiple offices (or are a national brand) can also qualify for Business Excellence Awards, but we want to know what's special about what you're doing here in Waterloo Region. What impact are you making in the local community?
What makes YOU unique? What is Unique to YOU and YOUR business (if providing stats and data, Champions will look at it as a scale. What are you doing DIFFERENT from others? How are you going above and beyond?
How to measure Growth. Questions around “growth” can be related to sales, staffing, engagement, product offerings, etc. (percentages can work, etc.) … compare it to what is normal in YOUR industry.
